Qatar Airways is one of the world’s fastest growing and most highly rated airlines, with one of the most modern fleets, serving 156 destinations in 80 countries worldwide. Qatar Airways, a one-world member since 2013, is a frequent winner of Airline of the Year awards and has maintained a Skytrax five-star rating since 2004. The company’s main hub is also in Doha, at Hamad International Airport. The airline’s fleet of more than 170 aircraft serves over 150 destinations worldwide, including the Middle East, North and South America, Asia, Africa, and Europe. The fleet is made up of a mix of Airbus and Boeing planes. The Airbus A320 is the most common aircraft on Qatar Airways, but there are nearly as many Boeing 777s and 787s. Qatar Airways’ most popular routes include those to Doha, London, Bangkok, and Dubai. It shares flights with many other airlines, including Air France, American Airlines, and Cathay Pacific. The company also belongs to the one-world alliance, which it joined in 2013.

Check-in via the internet

Passengers can check in for their Qatar Airways flight online if they so desire. Online check-in begins 48 hours before departure and closes 90 minutes before departure. Flights to and from the United States of America are an exception. On these flights, online check-in is available 24 hours before departure instead of 48. Passengers can check in using their mobile device, a web browser, or the Qatar Airways app. Passengers’ passport and visa information are required for online check-in, and accommodation information may also be required for some Qatar Airways flights. Passengers can also check in at the airport counters of the airline. This option becomes available three hours before a flight’s departure.

Allowance for hand luggage

The standard hand luggage allowance on a Qatar Airways flight is one piece weighing up to 7 kg for Economy class tickets and two pieces weighing up to 15 kg for Business and First class tickets. Regardless of ticket class, hand luggage dimensions must be less than 50 x 37 x 25 cm. Some small items, such as handbags, briefcases, and duty-free purchases, are permitted on board but do not count toward the hand baggage allowance on a Qatar Airways flight. Some musical instruments may be brought into the cabin, but a ticket for the seat they will occupy must be purchased.

Policy on checked baggage

Qatar Airways’ standard checked baggage allowance is 30 kg for Economy class passengers, 40 kg for Business class passengers, and 50 kg for First class passengers. Checked luggage is limited to a maximum length, width, and height of 300 cm for all classes. Some routes, such as Qatar Airways flights to Brazil, Argentina, Canada, the United States, Casablanca, and other African destinations, have different allowances. Before flying on any of these routes, passengers should double-check their allowance. Purchase additional checked baggage allowance online. If passengers bring sports equipment, it will count against their checked luggage allowance. Passengers who exceed their checked luggage allowance will be charged an additional fee by the airline.
